Headsets

It's important to be able to hear the sounds around you when riding.

They can alert you to a danger that you might not see. Successful riding requires the use of all of your senses.

Wearing A Headset While Riding

Simply stated, the law says no person shall operate a vehicle while wearing a headset, headphone, or other listening device, other than a hearing aid.

But there are exceptions...

  •  Law enforcement officers performing their assigned duties.

  • Using a headset installed in a helmet or worn so as to prevent the speakers from making direct contact with your ears allowing you to still hear surrounding sounds.

  • Using a cell phone headset that provides sound to only one ear.

  • Using a headset to communicate with a base operation that provides sound to only one ear.
